One of the hottest topics in the Internet Marketing world over the last six months has been the local business market. This is where you, with what you may perceive to be limited skills and knowledge, can actually provide services to local business owners.
There have obviously been the larger web design agencies and SEO agencies around for a few years now, but just because they are big does not necessarily mean they know fully what they are doing.
I have seen many websites that have been touched by so called experts, yet when analysed further there are some very basic mistakes being made.
The difficulty is that most local business owner are not internet savvy, so if the website looks good they are very happy. That is until they discover that they are not on Page1 of Google. Some will then decide that this is the best that can be done and just leave things as they are. Bad mistake, the ones still advertising in the Yellow Pages can tell you what happens if you leave things as they are.
We are in a unique position, where we do know what is going on, we can rectify some of the past mistakes and we can improve the rankings for most businesses, which in turn provides more Profit.
The point of all of this is that business owners are crying out for help. They are in pain. Unfortunately, what I hear from a lot of people is that they can not compete with the bigger organisations or they do not have the knowledge. That is a load of rubbish, we are talking about the internet, there has never been a better time in history for the little man to be able to compete.
You may not know it all, nobody does, but start at the bottom if you need to. Simply provide email marketing services for example. Not everyone is an accountant, that’s why we have book- keepers.
So, back yourself and see if you can generate some local business clients. Once you start working with them you might be surprised how little they know and how much you can help.
I sat in on a conference call with a good friend of mine from Texas recently and highlighted a couple of things his sales people needed to do to attract local business clients for his SEO Company.
